A new offensive could be deployed by Russia in two directions on the anniversary of a full-scale invasion. This was stated by Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, who called on NATO countries for new military assistance.
We cannot lose the initiative… We think that, given that they (the Russians – ed.) live in symbolism, they can try something around February 24… We do not underestimate our enemy,” Reznikov said on BFMTV.
The Kremlin has mobilized 500,000 Russian soldiers, he said.
Officially they announced about 300 thousand, but when we see troops on the borders, then, according to our estimates, this is much more, the Minister of Defense explained.
According to Reznikov, the Russian armed forces “can carry out an offensive in two directions: it could be the Donbass, or it could be the south.”
The head of the Ministry of Defense thanked France for providing 12 new Caesar guns.
He noted the need for Ukraine to quickly receive “air assets”. Reznikov asked to train Ukrainian pilots on planes that are likely to be provided by allied countries.
Recall, intelligence believes that Russia is preparing for a new offensive in February-March and that the next few months may be especially difficult for Ukraine, but decisive in the war. NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said he did not rule out “any scenario in the next two or three weeks” and that “the main battles are still ahead.”
