Norway can help the armed forces of Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs).
The Norwegian Ministry of Defense asked the General Staff to consider the possibility of transferring the CV90 BMP to Ukraine.
Norwegian publication TV 2 reported that the government is evaluating whether Norway should send more arms and military equipment to Ukraine.
We do not comment on these estimates or any current or future contributions. We have a good dialogue with Ukraine and allies about needs. We will support Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gramm told TV 2.
Military writes that the CV 9030N (Strf 9030) is an export version of the CV90 family of combat vehicles, developed by order of the Norwegian armed forces by a consortium of BAE Systems and Bofors. Now the country is armed with 164 such infantry fighting vehicles.
This combat vehicle was adopted under the symbol Strf 9030. This is the Norwegian version of the first generation CV90 IFV, known as the CV90 Mk I.
Especially for the export contract, instead of the standard 40-mm Bofors L / 70 automatic gun, the combat vehicle was armed with a 30-mm Bushmaster II automatic gun. The CV 9030N differs from the Swedish CV 90 in a more powerful 605 hp engine. and an additional landing commander’s hatch on the right side of the stern of the BMP. Vehicle protection allows you to withstand hits of 30 mm shells.
Norway has upgraded some of its CV9030N infantry fighting vehicles to the CV90 Mk IIIb level. This is the most advanced version currently in service.
The Mk III CV90 variant is a further development of the CV90 Mk II infantry fighting vehicle, with improved electronic systems, survivability and mobility.
Recall that Ukraine should receive 50 CV9040 infantry fighting vehicles as part of the Swedish military aid package.
