In Transcarpathia, a Ukrainian citizen who was planning to cross the border illegally got lost in the mountains and called the police for rescue. This was reported by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
It was reported that the border guards of the Chop detachment found a man near the village of Novoselitsa, Uzhgorod region, who intended to enter Slovakia illegally.
“A 25-year-old man was hoping to reach the border, guided by the navigator on his mobile phone. From the train station, he walked along the route laid out in advance. However, he soon lost his bearings and got lost in mountains. He was in the forest in the middle of the mountains all night. He was scared when he realized that he could not get out of the forest alone. So in the morning, when he “caught” the connection, he immediately called the 102 line and seek assistance from law enforcement officials,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
The police immediately informed the border guards, and they were recovered during the search.
“Soon, a few kilometers from the border, the border guards found a missing man. He turned out to be a resident of Zaporozhye and admitted that he planned to get to Slovakia illegally, and from there it was up to him to decide where next time. However, he did not expect difficulties in overcoming the mountainous terrain. The man was given the necessary assistance. He feels fine and is safe, “said the State Border Service.
The offender was taken to the border unit. For an attempt to cross the border illegally, he had to answer in court.
“Once again, we urge citizens not to risk their health and lives by choosing illegal paths. Let’s remember that last year, the border guards repeatedly recorded cases of the death of men in attempts to cross the border illegally,” the State Border Guard Service noted. .
