The offensive of the Wagner group, according to ISW, had reached its climax, but the Russian command had transferred a sufficient number of troops, thus preventing the ongoing general climax of the offensive on Bakhmut.
The commander of the Ukrainian unit operating in Bakhmut, Denis Yaralovsky, confirmed that “highly qualified” Russian regular troops are now reinforcing Wagner assault units as part of an ongoing effort to encircle Bakhmut.
ISW does not predict the imminent capture of Bakhmut under Russian forces, although the Ukrainian command may decide to retreat to avoid significant losses.
