The SBU exposed two more enemies during a multi-stage special operation in different regions.
The counterintelligence service of the Security Service of Ukraine detained “infiltrating agents” of the FSB of Russia, who “leaked” the positions of the Ukrainian army to the enemy and recruited new informants. This was reported on January 31 by the SBU.
It was noted that one of the traitors was a resident of the Kharkiv region, who at the beginning of a full-scale raid was recruited by a Russian intelligence officer.
Soon he left for the Sumy region as an internally displaced person and acted in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he carried out reconnaissance and subversive activities, and after the military registration and enlistment office the man was sent to a training center in the Zhytomyr region.
“While on the territory of the institution, he collected the personal data of combat training instructors, and also secretly” studied “the security system of a military facility. Subsequently, the mobilized was transferred as part of Ukrainian troops on the territory of the Donetsk region,” the SBU specified.
In the east of Ukraine, the agent is interested in the bases and movement routes of the combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the regions of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. He attracted his fellow countrymen to criminal activity, who, after the outbreak of war, also moved to Sumy, and later to the Odessa region.
Having agreed to the proposal, his henchman received appropriate instruction and began to reconnoiter Defense Forces bases in the Black Sea region. First of all, he tried to identify warehouses with artillery weapons and ammunition of Ukrainian troops.
Both attackers sent the collected information through closed communication channels. Former soldiers and women living in frontline areas in the south and east of Ukraine are in the “zone of special attention”.
Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service detained both traitors while trying to transfer classified information to the Russian Federation. Criminal proceedings were opened.
