House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) appeared to wish serial liar Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) more power than President Joe Biden on Sunday.
McCarthy made the odd suggestion in response to a rhetorical question posed by Fox News host Mark Levin on “Life, Liberty & Levin.”
“Who Has More Power: Joe Biden or George Santos?” asked Levin.
“Well, right now I think it’s the president, Joe Biden, unfortunately,” McCarthy replied with a laugh.
Wait – “unfortunately”?
The newly elected Santos has seen much of his party and voters turn against him amid a barrage of lies and misrepresentations about his education, religion, economic achievements and general background. Among other things, he falsely claimed that his mother died in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and dubiously claimed that she was the target of an assassination attempt. In addition, the Department of Justice is believed to have opened a criminal investigation into Santos’ campaign finance.
Levin and McCarthy, for whom the latter is under fire dodging the questions about Santos and his place on the committees, he tried to paint an equally dishonest portrait of Biden. But Twitter users weren’t having it:
