Rome is ready to send defensive weapons to Ukraine, but “will never send offensive weapons.”

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Rome is ready to continue defending Ukraine’s independence by providing the weapons needed for the defense. But there is no talk of transferring offensive weapons. He said this on the air of Rai3.

“The military situation in Ukraine is very difficult, we are very worried. We are all working for peace and we, as the Parliament decided, are ready to send defensive weapons. We will never send those offensive weapon, because we are not at war with Russia,” the minister said.

He added that Italy has nothing against the Russian people, but only helps to defend the independence of Ukraine.

It will be recalled that last week the lower house of the Italian Parliament approved a government order on providing military aid to Ukraine until the end of 2023.

Earlier it was reported that Italy decided to transfer SAMP / T air defense batteries to Ukraine.
