Deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council from the KMKS party (Party of Hungarians of Ukraine) Judyta Petei got into a serious scandal.
The politician published a map of the Transcarpathian region in the colors of the Hungarian flag. The MP added to her Facebook page a map with the colors of the Hungarian flag, as well as the text in Hungarian “God save Transcarpathia.” The local edition “Mukachevo.net” writes about this.
It is noted that this incident occurred against the backdrop of her outbursts with accusations of “harassment of ethnic Hungarians” in the Transcarpathian region. The post was later deleted by the official.
As you know, earlier, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban got into a scandal because of a scarf with a map of “Great Hungary”. The Hungarian officials decided to “include” the territories of Ukraine and Romania there.
Recall that in 2010 Orban launched an active campaign to financially support Hungarians in different countries. From 2011 to 2020, the Hungarian State Fund allocated 115 million euros to support Hungarians, the media and the church in the region.
In particular, over the past 10 years, churches in Transcarpathia have received almost 22 million euros from the fund. Hungarians also allocate money for the development of private tourism business, culture and the media.
