The Kremlin’s propaganda and disinformation campaign will not succeed in spreading an illusory alternative reality, the EU said in a statement.
Kremlin propaganda attempts to promote an alternative truth about the war launched by Russia against Ukraine will not be successful. This was stated in the statement of the EU issued at the meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna, reports Ukrinform.
“The Kremlin’s propaganda and disinformation campaign will not succeed in spreading an illusory alternative reality. We repeat: Russia illegally and unjustly attacked Ukraine. Ukraine is defending itself against Russia’s aggressive war in full accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, contrary to Russia’s false claims. It is Ukraine, and not Russia, that has shown a genuine interest in reaching an agreement on a just and sustainable peace that is fully in line with international law and OSCE principles and commitments, including those enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act,” the statement said.
It was noted that the European Union stands in solidarity with Ukraine, and the EU will continue to provide Ukraine with all necessary political, military, financial and humanitarian support “as long as necessary.”
The EU recalled that this week it agreed the seventh tranche of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 500 million euros, as well as an additional 45 million euros for the mission to train the Ukrainian military EUMAM Ukraine. Thus, the total military support for Ukraine from the EU exceeds 11.5 billion euros, including 3.6 billion euros under the European Peace Fund.
