It was decided not to include agricultural products, food products and medicine in the sanctions list.
The European Union proposes to introduce a new package of sanctions against Belarus for participating in the war against Ukraine. The restrictions could be as strong as those currently imposed in Russia. On Thursday, January 26, according to Bloomberg.
If such a proposal finds support among European politicians, Belarus would be subject to many of the restrictions imposed on the Russian Federation, including those related to the country’s key technologies and energy sectors.
Specifically, the proposed sanctions apply to:
-
Export of dual-use goods and technology used for military purposes;
-
Oil, coal, iron and gold;
-
Luxury goods, investments and the provision of certain services;
-
Restrictions also affect aviation, energy and major sources of income.
As in the case of sanctions imposed in the Russian Federation, there are also exceptions – for medical products, agriculture and food products.
It was noted that the law would also allow the EU to prosecute anyone who helped evade the sanctions imposed on Belarusian individuals and legal entities.
To approve the sanctions, the votes of all EU countries will be needed. In Europe, it is also preparing a tenth package of sanctions against Russia and price restrictions on Russian oil products.
It will be recalled that Belarus said that the transfer of the aircraft to airports in the Russian Federation is being carried out.
It was also reported that the military of the Russian Federation and Belarus were making a landing.
Recall that the US Treasury Department includes 17 Russians on the sanctions list.
