At least two people have been killed and seven injured after a Palestinian attacked passengers on a train in Germany.

In northern Germany, a knife-wielding man attacked passengers on a regional train. At least two people died and seven were injured, according to France 24.

The incident took place on a train between the cities of Hamburg and Kiel, a police spokesman said, adding that three of the injured were seriously injured.

It was learned that the 33-year-old suspect, a stateless man of Palestinian origin, was detained at the train station in the city of Brokstedt and hospitalized with minor injuries.

“Witnesses were able to capture the suspect immediately after the attack until the police arrived at the train station in Brokstedt,” police said in a statement.

They also noted that the investigation into the motives of the attack focused on “all directions”, including possible extremism or psychological problems on the part of the attacker.

Federal Home Secretary Nancy Feather called the attack “shocking news” and said her thoughts were with the victims of this “horrific act” and their families.

It was earlier reported that at a train station in Paris, a knife-wielding man attacked people. Five people were injured, including a policeman.
