Canada is considering moving Leopard tanks to Ukraine

Ottawa can provide Ukraine with no more than five German Leopard 2 tanks in the balance of the Ministry of Defense.

Canadian authorities are considering transferring Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, but their number will be extremely limited, reports CBC News, citing sources.

Canada is considering transferring four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, but a decision has yet to be made, senior sources said.

It is known that the announcement of the transfer of tanks may be made as early as Thursday.

“An interlocutor said that Canada is likely to give Ukraine a model of the A4 tank, the oldest in the country’s armed forces. Canada bought the A4 from the Netherlands during the war in Afghanistan,” the publication clarified.

At the same time, Justin Trudeau on Wednesday did not promise the transfer of tanks.

It will be remembered that today US President Joe Biden officially announced the supply of 31 M1 Abrams tanks and other equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Also today, Germany officially announced the supply of Leopard 2 tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and authorized their re-export to other countries.
