Coast Guard Mr. Japan The US and South Korea searched for eight crew members of a sunken cargo ship between the two countries on Wednesday, after 14 people were rescued.
“A total of 14 people were rescued,” a spokesman for the Japanese Coast Guard told AFP. “We still don’t know their status or nationality,” added the spokesman, who asked not to be named.
He specified that the six crew members were rescued by the South Korean Coast Guard supporting the operation.
Eleven of those rescued were “unconscious,” the South Korean Coast Guard said, noting that the rescued crew members were being transferred to Nagasaki, southwest of Japan.
“One aircraft is in place, two ships are on the way,” the spokesman added.
