All nuclear power units located on the territory controlled by Ukraine are operating at maximum capacity.
The eight blocks of nuclear power plants operating in the territory controlled by Ukraine provide about 55% of the total electricity consumption. This was announced on January 24 by the press service Energoatom.
“Eight blocks of the Ukrainian NPP in the state-controlled territory operate at the maximum rated capacity and provide about 55% of the country’s total electricity consumption. The South Ukrainian NPP generates the largest volume of electricity,” said the company.
At the same time, one of the blocks Energoatom is still under scheduled maintenance, which is carried out every four years to ensure nuclear and radiation safety.
It is emphasized that the Zaporozhye NPP, temporarily occupied by the Russians, continues to consume electricity from the Ukrainian energy system for its own needs. All six power units of the Zaporizhzhya NPP stopped, the invaders blocked their integration.
It was previously reported that it will take at least two months to resume the operation of the Zaporozhye NPP after de-occupation.
As a reminder, January 24 Ukrainergo stated that the production of electricity in operating power plants cannot fully cover consumption, therefore, consumption limits for the day were brought to all regions.
