People’s deputy, deputy chairman of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Pavel Khalimon, according to journalists, acquired a property in the center of Kyiv during a massive war.
After the war, Ukrainians could forget the main disease of Ukrainian officials – total corruption. But the officials themselves, as it happened, did not forget about corruption even with a full-scale Russian attack. The last few days have brought several corruption scandals, among them the representatives of the people, ministers and their deputies, law enforcement officials.
Servant of the property people
According to Ukrainska Pravda, MP, deputy chairman of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Pavlo Khalimon, acquired a property in the center of Kyiv during a massive war. A house with a land plot of 10 hectares cost him UAH 10.3 million, while the market value of houses in this area of a similar area is about 50-60 million. UE learned that the seller was OCU Bishop Oleksandr Drabinko. He said he sold the estate for less, because he needed money.
Khalimon, according to the UE, permanently resides in the acquired property, however, this property is registered to Anastasia Kotelenets. Journalists learned that in 2021 he became the owner of 45 plots of land in the Chernihiv region with a total area of about 80 hectares.
The most interesting thing is that the electronic declarations of officials, which are used by Ukrainians in education, are now classified. In war conditions. But it did not save Khalimon.
The leader of the Servant of the People group, David Arakhamia, said that Khalimon has been removed from the position of deputy leader of the faction, and then, they said, let the law enforcement officials find out where he got the house and the money for it.
Arahamia also said that corrupt officials would be held accountable, and announced that an “active landing” would take place this spring.
“Perhaps, this spring we will definitely plant actively. It will not work with people, it is in accordance with the laws of wartime. “Out of season” no longer works. Some people lost their minds and looted without fear and regret,” said the SN team leader.
Prosecutor in Spain
One can start, for example, with Deputy Prosecutor General Alexei Simonenko. During martial law, he went on vacation abroad, despite President Volodymyr Zelensky’s direct ban. Journalists learned that Simonenko spent his 10-day winter vacation in Marbella, Spain, which was confirmed by a photo published by his wife on Instagram.
Symonenko left Ukraine on December 30, 2022 through the Krakovets checkpoint in a Mercedes BC 0001 ХН car with Viktor Derkach (driver). Back on 01/08/2023 with Roman Seretko (driving) in the same car. This car is registered to the Grand Hotel Holding company, owned by the wife of a Lviv businessman and ex-deputy Grigory Kozlovsky (and Seretko is his bodyguard).
It’s not over yet
And all this appeared against the backdrop of high-profile corruption scandals in the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Defense. Political scientist Aleksey Koshel believes that the latest corruption scandals, despite the war, can only be one of the first, and the next ones will be even bigger.
“I think it’s not all a scandal. Because the main authorities with the risk of corruption – so far there are several scandals. I mean, it’s the customs, it’s the tax office, it’s the structures with the greatest risk of corruption,” said Koshel. So stock up on popcorn, it’s all just getting started.
