The scandal over the purchase of food for the army continues. Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov promised to provide comprehensive information on documents on providing the army with food.
They will be presented to people’s deputies at a meeting of the relevant committee. Representatives of NABU, DBR and SBU will also be there, the head of the ministry said on his Facebook page.
He added that he guarantees “full transparency” of the Ministry of Defense for law enforcement officers and if it is proved that one of the officials is abusing, “he will receive according to the law.”
Recall that on Saturday, a few hours after the publication of Zn.ua about possible corruption in the field of procurement for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense called the Verkhovna Rada. This was announced by the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” Marianna Bezuglaya.
Journalists reported that the Ministry of Defense buys products for Ukrainian servicemen several times more expensive than they cost in the capital’s stores, already taking into account the extra charge. ZN.ua described several schemes.
For example, we are talking about an agreement worth UAH 13.16 billion, which was concluded on December 23, 2022. According to the document, the Ministry of Defense contracted eggs for 17 UAH per piece (in stores – about 7 UAH per piece), potatoes – for 22 UAH per kg (in stores – about 8-9 UAH), chicken thighs – for 120 UAH per kg (in stores – 80 UAH). Journalists compared purchase prices with average prices in the most common retail chain.
On January 23, the supplier explained why his prices for products for the army are several times more expensive than store prices.
