After the de-occupation of the territories, Ukrainian specialists immediately began cleaning them from explosives.
The Russian invaders actively passed through the temporarily occupied territories. In the liberated parts of Kherson and Nikolaev regions alone, almost 900,000 hectares of land were mined. This was stated by the commander of the operational-strategic group of Tavria troops, Brigadier General Alexander Tarnavsky.
“The occupiers managed to mine about 680,000 hectares in the part of the Kherson region that was liberated last year. This is just an estimate. Another 200,000 hectares are mined areas in the Mykolaiv region,” he said.
Tarnavsky emphasized that after the de-occupation of the territories, Ukrainian specialists immediately began to clear them of explosives.
“The specialists of the Defense Forces in the Taurida sector go out every day to find the deadly legacy of the aggressor. Every second they risk their lives to make the liberated territories of Ukraine safe again. Here we are fundamentally different from the enemy,” he added.
Recall that in the Kherson region on the territory of the Berislav community, two people were blown up by mines.
At the end of last year, an employee of the State Emergency Service was blown up by a mine in the Kharkiv region. The victim sustained serious injuries.
