Ukraine’s partner countries are not simply watching the war and will not allow “Russia to capture Kyiv and then set Europe on fire.”
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said his country would create a “smaller coalition” ready to donate some of its modern equipment and modern tanks to Ukraine if Germany still does not agree to send 14 Leopard 2, announced in Kyiv by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda. The PAP agency reported this.
Morawiecki emphasized that Ukraine’s partner countries are not simply watching the war and will not allow “Russia to occupy Kyiv and then set Europe on fire.”
“We will create a ‘smaller coalition’ of countries willing to donate some of their modern equipment and modern tanks to a belligerent Ukraine. We will not simply watch Ukraine bleed. The Ukrainian people are fighting for our freedom. Sending Leopards to Ukraine is a matter of Polish and European raison d’état (national interest). We will not let Russia take Kyiv and then set Europe on fire,” Morawiecki said .
The head of the Polish government noted that the decision to support the Ukrainian army was justified politically and morally.
“I hope that the Germans will understand this sooner rather than later. However, any country that already understands will surely follow in Poland’s footsteps,” he summed up.
Earlier, the American publication Business Insider reported that the German Ministry of Defense deliberately delayed the inventory of existing Leopard tanks in order not to create additional expectations and pressure on the government regarding their possible transfer to Ukraine. According to the publication, such an order was given only today, upon the arrival of the new head of the Ministry of Defense.
