Patriarch Kirill called on the parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church to mobilize, and the clergy to strengthen those who are “towards death.”
On January 21, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church delivered a speech in which he called on the clergy and laity of the Russian Orthodox Church to actively help Russian soldiers participating in the war against Ukraine.
In a rather belligerent speech, the patriarch cited the example of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Great Patriotic War (as Muscovites call the Second World War – “Rakurs”), when people, according to him, driven by a patriotic idea, mobilized, realizing that an external enemy posed an existential threat for the country.
We won because the mobilization of the whole people really took place, – said the head of the Russian Orthodox Church during a festive meal at the Epiphany Cathedral in Moscow.
The Patriarch supported the narrative spread by the Russian authorities, and said that the deadlocked Western civilization “has taken up arms against Russia”, which single-handedly opposed globalism.
In order to win this fight, it is necessary to help the servicemen, “those who are in the line of fire,” urged Patriarch Kirill. “We need to mobilize our parishioners to collect things and food. Look for opportunities, collect money, send parcels, if possible, leave yourself, support the military.
According to Kirill, little is said about the help of the Russian invading army and the Russian Orthodox Church in the media space.
