The Government of Serbia today, January 19, announced the sending of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
We are talking about assistance in priority equipment to support the country’s energy system. This is reported by the publication Nova with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Serbia.
The volume of assistance approved by the Serbian government and what exactly it includes is not reported.
It is worth adding that at the end of November 2022, Serbia provided two ambulances to Ukraine.
The Serbian authorities consider Russia their ally, in connection with which they previously refused to impose sanctions against Russia. Also, Serbia did not provide military assistance to Ukraine.
At the same time, the Serbian government has not recognized the pseudo-referendums held by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in a recent interview with Bloomberg, said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine worsened Belgrade and Moscow’s attitudes.
According to Vučić, he has spoken to Vladimir Putin many times over the past years and even took Russian lessons so that he could speak to him without an interpreter. However, now the situation has changed – the leaders of the two countries have not communicated for many months.
