CIA chief secretly visits Kyiv – media

The director of the US intelligence agency discussed the data on the military plans of the Russian Federation and additional aid to Ukraine.

CIA chief William Burns secretly visited Kyiv last week to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky. On Thursday, January 19, The Washington Post reported, citing officials familiar with the details of the visit.

It was noted that the American official shared with Zelensky his expectations about Russia’s future military plans.

“After the meeting, Zelensky clearly understood that Washington’s support for Kyiv remains strong, and that the $45 billion in funding passed by Congress in December 2022 will continue until at least July or August,” WP wrote .

At the same time, Burns spoke of the urgency of the moment on the battlefield and acknowledged that at some point, aid will be harder to come by, given the Republican Party’s control of the House of Representatives in Congress.

By the way, this is not the first secret visit of Burns to Kyiv. The last time he visited Ukraine in this way was in November.
