At the moment, there are no serious prospects for holding peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv, António Guterres insisted.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he sees no end to the war in Ukraine in the near future and no chance for peace talks. He said this on January 18 at the session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“This war will end. Everything has an end. But I don’t see an end to this war in the near future, unfortunately. I don’t see a chance that at the moment there can be peace talks between the two sides,” insisted the Secretary.
He also reiterated that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a violation of international law.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace initiatives “absurd” and ruled out negotiations with him.
