Ukraine needs more weapons, says Charles Michel.

European Council President Charles Michel supports plans to supply tanks to Ukraine. He said this at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Interfax-Ukraine reports on Wednesday, January 18.

“Ukraine needs more weapons. I personally am for the supply of tanks to Ukraine,” said Michel.

He assured that the European Union will help Ukraine “as long as necessary.”

“We will continue to help Ukraine militarily, and we will increase the capacity of the European Peace Fund,” promised the head of the European Council.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the five countries are ready to transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine, awaiting permission from Germany as a manufacturing country.

Also, the British government confirmed the decision to transfer Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems to Ukraine.
