A Massachusetts man recently charged with obstructing authorities in the search for his missing wife is now charged with her murder, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Brian Walshe, 47, who has been behind bars since January 7 on the above charges, will be arraigned on Wednesday on this new charge related to his missing wife, Ana Walshe, 39, of said the district attorney about Norfolk.
Evidence supporting the charge will likely be revealed during his hearing, District Attorney Michael Morrisey said in a video address. Any further details will not be revealed until then, he added.
The murder charge comes a week after a prosecutor said a search of the couple’s home in Cohasset, southeast of Boston, found blood, as well as a bloodstained knife, in the basement.

Brian Walshe told investigators he last saw his wife on the morning of Jan. 1 as she was taking a flight to Washington, DC, for an emergency at work. The next day, he was seen on surveillance video at a local Home Depot buying $450 worth of cleaning products, Norfolk District Attorney Lynn M. Beland told a Quincy District Court judge during the initial hearing its.
It wasn’t until January 4 that the mother of three children was reported missing to the authorities. By then, Beland said, Walshe had been driving around the area alone in his car, possibly violating court-ordered probation for a previous wire fraud conviction. He later gave police a series of inconsistencies when asked where he had gone.
“The fact that she was asked a specific question and gave a false answer which drove detectives out of the area caused a clear delay in the search for missing person Ana Walshe,” the earlier police statement said. “[Brian] Walshe intentionally made the false statement, knowing that investigators would have to travel and confirm these claims.”
Brian Walshe pleaded not guilty to the original charge of obstructing a police investigation. His attorney did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment Tuesday.
