Duda noted that Poland had previously handed over to Ukraine more than 260 Soviet-era tanks.
Polish President Andrzej Duda said the country plans to transfer about 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine. He told this to the World Economic forums in Davos.
“Five days ago we announced the transfer of Leopard. We are talking about 14 tanks,” said Duda.
He also expects that Ukrainian partners will also provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks.
“President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked me for support many times. He said they need tanks. We donated more than 260 of our old tanks. We have them since the time of the Soviet Union. It was decided we provide this equipment, which is an urgent need. This is almost the beginning of a big support for Ukraine, and I hope that the decision to send the Leopard to Ukraine will be a new beginning of help,” said Duda.
Recall that the Polish authorities decided to transfer a company of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine as part of an international coalition.
Earlier, the head of Poland’s International Policy Bureau said that Warsaw could give Kyiv a “symbolic number” of such tanks.
