Russia apparently hit the Dnieper with an inaccurate large NATO-class AS-4 KITCHEN anti-ship missile. This is reported by the British Ministry of Defense.
According to British intelligence, we are talking about the Kh-22 missile, which the Ukrainian military had previously spoken about. The Russians have previously used similar weapons in other strikes, provoking mass casualties among the civilian population (for example, the shelling of a shopping center in Kremenchug on June 27, 2022).
A large AS-4 KITCHEN anti-ship missile launched from a Tu-22M3 BACKFIRE bomber hit a residential building in Dnipro, killing at least 40 people, the report said.
British intelligence pointed out that Russia immediately lied that a Ukrainian air defense missile was responsible, since the Kh-22 missiles are notorious for being inaccurate when used against ground targets, as its radar guidance system is poor at distinguishing targets in urban areas.
Kh-22 missiles are unsuitable for high-precision strikes, according to British intelligence, and evidence of the war in Ukraine suggests that the dysfunction of Russia’s long-range strike capability goes deeper.
