Ukraine is allegedly counting on the escalation of the conflict with the support of the West, Vladimir Putin said.
The head of the current Russian regime, Vladimir Putin, spoke on the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Kremlin press service reported this on Monday, January 16.
The main topic of the talks was the situation around Ukraine. In particular, the politicians discussed the initiative of Turkey and, taking into account the negotiations between the Ombudsmen of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the issue of the exchange of prisoners, especially the wounded.
At the same time, the owner of the Kremlin complained to Erdogan that Ukraine did not accept the Kremlin’s proposal to “cease fire” for the Orthodox Christmas season.
In addition, Putin “drew attention to the destructive line of the Kyiv regime, which relied on the intensification of hostilities with the support of Western sponsors, which increased the amount of transferred weapons and military equipment.”
Putin and Erdogan also considered the implementation of agreements in Istanbul on the export of Ukrainian grain from Black Sea ports and the unblocking of food and fertilizer supplies from Russia.
Erdogan was previously reported to be preparing new negotiations with Ukraine and the Russian Federation. The previous round took place on 5th January. Then the Turkish leader also spoke with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
