Apache helicopters will intensify the country’s fight against the Russian invaders, which continues in its 11th month.
Britain intends to transfer to Ukraine not only Challenger 2 tanks, but also Apache AH64 E attack helicopters. Mirror wrote this on Saturday, January 14.
A senior source in the country’s defense sector told the publication that the transfer of helicopters was planned after Ukraine received the Challenger 2 tank.
“Apache will be a game changer. Tanks will come first and helicopters will take time to be deployed. Other NATO members will follow,” the source said.
It is noted that the Apache AH64 E helicopters can be armed with up to 16 Hellfire anti-tank rounds, 76 70mm Hydra rockets and a 30mm chain gun.
This means that four Apaches can destroy an entire regiment of 70 tanks in a matter of seconds.
It is assumed that Ukrainian pilots will study in the UK, and a helicopter maintenance base will be created in a neighboring country, for example, in Poland.
It should be noted that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed that the UK is seeking to increase support for Ukraine, including the provision of Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems, during a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
