The announced delivery of light tanks by France (AMX-10 RC), the United States (Bradley) and Germany (Marder) is an acceleration of military aid to Ukraine. It is also a turning point designed to enable a Ukrainian offensive in late winter, when the frozen ground will be favorable for armored attacks, or in early spring, until rasputitsa, melt the sludge, re-immobilize them.
By supplying it with tanks, the Westerners are no longer content to help the Ukrainian army resist Russian forces, but allow it to go back on the offensive against them. They are now betting on a recapture victory that could send Ukrainian fighters into Crimea in the coming months.
