The Mariupol city council announced the postponement of the evacuation of the civilian population from the city blocked by the Russian occupiers on May 2. This was announced on Sunday, May 1 by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavel Kirilenko.
“Attention, Mariupol: change in evacuation start time. Tomorrow, May 2, the evacuation in Mariupol will start at 7.00 am. The collection point is the Port City shopping center,” the official said.
The OVA chief also asked Ukrainians who are in constant contact with Mariupol residents staying in the blocked city to pass on to them this information.
It was previously reported that the evacuation of the civilian population will take place at 8 p.m. However, it was eventually rescheduled an hour earlier.
Recall that on May 1, in Mariupol, the evacuation of citizens from the territory of the Azovstal plant began with the support of the UN and the Red Cross. He passed successfully. Thus, more than 100 Ukrainians are now safe – in particular, children, a woman and the elderly. The Azov Regiment also showed unique footage of the rescue operation in Mariupol.
