“We are really seeing intense and heavy fighting around Soledar, as well as Bakhmut, which is quite close. We cannot confirm any reports that Soledar has been captured by Russian forces,” he said.

“But we know that the Ukrainians are continuing operations around Soledar and are continuing to fight,” the Pentagon spokesman added.
