Representative. Chuck Edwards (RN.C.) said his predecessor, former far-right Republican Madison Cawthorn, failed to turn over constitutional files when he left office and has since ignored multiple requests to do so.
In a statement shared on his website, Edwards said he currently has “no way of knowing which constituents have pending lawsuits or other outstanding federal matters.”
“Repeated attempts have been made over the past month to reach Congressman Cawthorn and his staff, but no response or action has been provided,” he added.
Cawthorn was expected to turn in the case file database by Dec. 23, according to House rules, Edwards said.

“We discussed the issue of providing the best possible service to the people of western North Carolina,” Edwards wrote. “I think anyone with unfinished business should contact my office immediately. I also hope that members of the media will help educate the public about this request. I would like to make sure that our veterans, seniors, people with disabilities and others who need help get all the services they are entitled to.”
Cawthorn lost the GOP primary to Edwards after two controversial years in Congress in which he was criticized for a series of offensive, divisive and violent comments. He once posed for photographs in Adolf Hitler’s holiday home and was accused of sexual harassment by former classmates.
Cawthorn is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and now, like the former president, lives in Florida. He does not appear to have publicly commented on Edwards’ accusation.
