US President Joe Bidenwill arrive at Mexico on Sunday, a day earlier than planned, for an official visit and participation in the North American Summit, the Mexican government announced.
“The president United States of AmericaJoe Biden, will arrive on Sunday, January 8, in the afternoon at Felipe Angeles International Airport. He will be welcome in Mexico,” Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard tweeted.
Biden will travel to Mexico City after visiting the border in El Paso, Texas on Sunday following the announcement this Thursday of immigration measures that will allow up to 30,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela to enter the country per month over the next two of the year.
Biden timeline
Initially, the US president, for whom the issue of immigration has become an Achilles’ heel, was due to arrive in the capital on Monday around 13:00 local time (19:00 GMT), according to what Ebrard had previously said.
That day Biden scheduled a meeting with the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) and on Tuesday he will attend the summit with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
In the initial program, the President of the United States marked his departure from Mexico Tuesday afternoon.
