Despite the war, Ukrainians celebrate Christmas and believe in the victory of good over evil, light over darkness.
The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epiphanius congratulated the Ukrainians celebrating Christmas on January 7. Congratulations on Friday, January 6, he posted online.
The Metropolitan noted that, despite the war, Ukrainians celebrate Christmas and believe in the victory of good over evil, light over darkness.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness does not embrace it – it proclaims the Gospel to us. So, despite everything, the joy of the Birth of Christ fills our hearts, banishes sadness, pain and sadness. And let the light of the star of Bethlehem direct us all to the Son of God. We can defeat any evil. Victory is for Ukraine!” said the metropolitan.
He mentions that evil and good cannot coexist peacefully, and that true peace can only be achieved by overcoming evil.
“Today, the warmest prayers and wishes are for the new heroes – our protectors and defenders who protect us at the cost of their own lives,” he stressed.
At the same time, the Primate of the OCU wishes that the Ukrainians will win as soon as possible and the long-awaited peace will come for our country, and with it all compatriots will return to their homes.
It should be noted that on January 6 and 7, divine services will be held in the churches of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on the occasion of the Nativity of Christ.
Recall that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukrainian families on Christmas.
Earlier it was reported that the leaders of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Svyatoslav and the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphany intend to create a joint working group to reform the church calendar.
