The head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry conveyed to his Russian colleague a message from the Secretary of State of the United States, with whom he had previously spoken.
Israel’s new Foreign Minister Eli Cohen forwarded to aggressor Russia messages from US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. On Tuesday, January 3, The Times of Israel reported, citing a senior diplomat.
The source of the publication said that during a telephone conversation with Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday afternoon, Cohen gave him messages from Blinken, with whom he had spoken the previous day. What exactly was discussed, he did not specify. The call was requested by the Russians, according to an Israeli official.
The publication also wrote that around noon on Tuesday, Israel requested talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. The Times of Israel quoted a “senior Ukrainian official” as saying that Kyiv had expected Israel to cancel the talks with Lavrov or postpone them until the talks with Kuleba took place, but that did not happen.
It will be remembered that last week Benjamin Netanyahu was sworn in and officially became the Prime Minister of Israel for the sixth time.
It was previously reported that Israel and the United States will develop laser weapons against missiles.
