The work of the Ministry of Justice in 2023 aims to accelerate the military and legal success of Ukraine, said Irina Mudraya.
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, together with the Office of the President and international partners, in 2022 laid the foundation for a legal victory against Russia and the restoration of justice. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Justice Irina Mudraya on Facebook.
An important result of 2022 will be the creation of the Compensation Mechanism, he believes.
According to him, members of the working group visited different continents and many countries to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine as a result of Russia’s armed aggression.
“There is already a resolution of the UN General Assembly, as well as the support of many parliamentary assemblies, PACE, NATO, European Parliament, Committee of the Council of Europe. At the same time, work is underway to create a Special Tribunal to consider the crime of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine,” said the Deputy Minister.
The compensation mechanism will work and the first step is the launch of the international register of losses, Mudraya is sure. In particular, it has now been determined in which country it will be placed legally. This will be followed by the creation of the Compensation Commission, the filling of the Compensation Fund.
In addition, he pointed to another important aspect of the work of the Ministry of Justice for 2023 – interstate lawsuits of Ukraine against Russia at the ECtHR. Today, 25 countries have joined Ukraine’s claim to the ECtHR.
“Despite the fact that the aggressor country refuses to comply with the court’s decision, we know that there is no statute of limitations for them, and the international precedent will not disappear anywhere,” he stressed.
According to him, in 2023 the task is aimed at accelerating the military and legal victory of Ukraine in the war, because the defeat of Russia is already obvious.
“I believe in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and am doing everything in my place so that the legal victory also comes as quickly as possible,” Wise summed up.
Remember, Wise previously reported that the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) discussed legal mechanisms for financial compensation to Ukraine for the damage caused by Russia’s aggression.
