Japan started providing aid to Ukraine from the first days of the massive invasion of the Russian Federation, said the Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine.
Japan has already given Ukraine $1.1 billion in financial, humanitarian and military aid and plans to allocate another $500 million, Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
The ambassador noted that Japan began to provide Ukraine with various assistance from the first days of the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, and although Japan did not directly provide weapons according to the law, the Japanese government for the first time decided to provide non-lethal. equipment, including drones, helmets, body armor, winter clothing, as well as first aid kits and soldering.
“We are constantly expanding the list. And now we are talking with colleagues in Ukraine on the possibility of providing dual-use technologies,” added Matsuda.
In addition, Japan supports Ukraine and diplomatic procedures.
“We are appealing to countries that have not yet decided their position in this war, or to countries that are still neutral. These are the goals of our diplomatic strategy. This is how we try to convince them to support Ukraine or participate in the international sanctions regimes” said the ambassador.
It was previously reported that Japan is in favor of reforming the UN Security Council due to Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.
