Three residents of Svetlogorsk were sentenced to 21 to 23 years in prison with a fine and confiscation of property. So far, this is the harshest sentence in railway sabotage cases.
On December 27, the Gomel Regional Court passed judgment on three Belarusians accused of sabotage on the railway, where trains with Russian military equipment were traveling to participate in the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the publication Mirror.
It was noted that the “train partisans” from Svetlogorsk Oleg Molchanov, Dmitry Ravich and Denis Dikun were accused of several criminal articles at once, including terrorism and treason.
Molchanov was sentenced to 21 years in a penal colony, Ravich – to 22 years, Dikun – to 23 years. They were also fined 4,800 Belarusian rubles each, and all valuables seized during the search of their homes were confiscated.
The trial in this case was held behind closed doors for three months.
According to investigators, on the night of February 28 to March 1, 2022, partisans set fire to a relay cabinet at the train station. Zherd-Ostankovichi in the Gomel region. The three were arrested on March 4 and taken into custody.
