The European Parliament will not support Tbilisi’s European integration intentions if the former president dies, believes Jacek Sariush-Wolski.

Georgia’s entry into the EU is directly related to the case of former President Mikheil Saakashvili. In particular, the European Parliament will not support Georgia’s entry into the bloc if the politician dies in prison. This was said by the Polish member of the European Parliament Jacek Saryusz-Wolski on his Twitter account on Tuesday, December 27.

“The parallels between Saakashvili’s case and Georgia’s entry into the European Union are of fundamental importance. They are inseparable. The European Parliament would never have supported Georgia’s entry into the European Union if the former president had died in prison,” said he.

Sariush-Volsky commented in this way on the words of the leaders of the Georgian Dream party, who expressed the inappropriate drawing of parallels between the case of Saakashvili and the European perspective of the country.

As previously reported, Georgia’s ruling party stated that sending Saakashvili to Georgia was allegedly a “special Ukrainian operation” with the aim of bringing the country to war. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called on Tbilisi not to think about the topic of war.

We add that heavy metals were found in Saakashvili’s tests, the deterioration of his health may be due to poisoning.
