CNN reporter Polo Sandoval could barely be seen crawling toward the network cameras as he reported outside in blizzard conditions in Buffalo, New York.
Sandoval, who said he was about 150 feet from the CNN camera, described the poor visibility as part of conditions considered “the worst” by Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, whose county includes the upstate New York, according to The Buffalo News.
Wind gusts reached 79 mph in the area as experts predicted some communities could see as much as 50 to 55 inches of total snow before the storm ends, according to the newspaper.
AccuWeather meteorologist Jake Sojda said the storm could be “close to the top of the biggest blizzard list” in the city as millions of Americans were affected by power outages along with winter weather warnings or advisories. he said, the Associated Press reported.
“I mean…Polo, wow…” CNN host Kristin Fisher said as the snow darkened where Sandoval stood.
“Kristin, our viewers can Google the image ‘Buffalo in winter’ and they’ll probably find this image…,” Sandoval said in the whiteout.

Even the brutal conditions in the Buffalo area were enough waves off Lake Erie and damaged a local golf course in the town of Clarence, New York.
