Dozens sea birds dead women keep appearing on the beaches of south lima, group RPP News during the tour this morning.
Our correspondent visited several sanatoriums, including those in the area of the city of San Bartolowhere he found many dead birds, presumably victims bird flu type H5N1.
This situation emotionally struck the neighbors who lived with these animals on a daily basis. Those interviewed said it was very sad to see them die on the beaches.
“It’s sad, sad about what’s going on,” said neighbor Ricardo Roldan, who pointed out that despite the cleanup done by staff from Peru’s National Agrarian Health Service (Senas), dead birds continue to be thrown onto the beaches.
It is worth mentioning that many dying birds are also observed on the beaches, which, having no strength to fly, sit on the sand in anticipation of death.
More than 13 thousand dead birds
Latest official report prepared at the national level by the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (Serfor) reported that 13,869 wild seabirds have died from H5N1 avian influenza along much of our coastline, inside and outside protected areas.
Of that number, 10,257 pelicans have been recorded, according to the institution; Among other species there are 2919 sea gannets, 614 chamanas. The information was released by biologist Lady Amaro, who said that the official reports are based on a calculation carried out by specialists from the National Forestry and Wildlife Service (ATFFS) Technical Directorate and AgroRural.
