Where did the immigrants go from?an ocean viking ? The 234 were due to land in the port of Toulon on 11 November after Italy refused to open its ports to them. Almost all of them have been released in recent days for various reasons. 44 unaccompanied minors, as the law prohibits keeping them in detention. another 66, because they received permission to enter the territory to request asylum. 26 out of 44 minors in care ran away

44 unaccompanied minors were taken out of the Giens waiting room to be taken care of by the Var department. In total, 26 of them escaped and are now on the radar of the administration or the police. According to Jean-Louis Masson, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who recently confided: Figaro, most would be Eritreans seeking to reach other countries illegally. But we do not know if some have already crossed the border or if all are still in France. According to an employee of the Hôtel des Trois Muriers in Toulon, where they were staying, the remaining 18 minors were still there Sunday evening.

Of the other 189, 66 can get asylum in France…

In addition to the 44 unaccompanied minors who are automatically allowed to enter France, the 189 migrants held in the Giens waiting room are not considered to be in our territory. OFPRA found that only 66 were justified in seeking asylum; they were given the right to leave the waiting room and move to the reception centers for asylum seekers (CADA). These 66 migrants are the only ones who can hope to receive asylum in France. Negotiations are underway with 11 European countries that have volunteered to host them, to find out how many of them will actually stay in France.

… and the remaining 123 should be deported or distributed to other European countries

The other 123 were denied their request to enter the area. But on Friday, after a legal fiasco, justice eventually freed a hundred of them. These people, who were, however, deemed by OFPRA to be ineligible to seek asylum, now have an eight-day regularization visa… to seek asylum. According to an Interior Ministry source familiar with the matter, they were not released into the wild but taken to special shelters to submit their application. Although, according to a high-ranking source at OFII, the French Office of Integration and Immigration, these people have no chance of obtaining asylum in France and will inevitably be refused, as it is OFPRA, which has already decided on their case, that will examine their request. Therefore, OQTFs should be declared against them. But one can legitimately doubt the effectiveness of such measures, considering the low level of their implementation.

On the other hand, it is not impossible that they will be welcomed in eleven other European countries that have volunteered; eleven countries agree to welcome them: Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal. and Romania. However, they now have the option of staying at the reception center for a few months while their application is being processed. The other migrants (less than a dozen) remaining in the holding area must eventually be deported.
