Five unions of city carriers, uniting about 16,000 jobs, are protesting in front of the building of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The protesters point out that they were influenced by the work schedule of the military-technical cooperation, which gave permission for the withdrawal of more than two thousand units vehicles manufactured in 1999 and older.
The carriers have indicated that, unless action is taken in this regard, will go on strike on November 22 in Lima and Callao. They hope the schedule will be extended as they claimed to have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With this in mind, the leader of the National Association for the Integration of Carriers (Anitra), Enrique Bacatalked about it.
“We are standing in front of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, holding a stop, a sit-in, to attract the attention of the authorities and see that they have left more than two thousand housing units on the street without any criteria. wherever they go, destroy those carts. We don’t have a mitigation plan, we don’t have a disposal planhe said in conversation with RPP News.
Baka added that the devices that will be retired are technically state of the art and requested a two-year extension to continue with the upgrade.
“These blocks are in working condition, they have current technical inspections, they have SOAT. The only criterion is age. We ask in advance to stay in the system for two years to be able to upgrade parts,” he concluded.
