March “La toma de Lima”: a reporter denounces aggression and looting by his team in full mobilization

A reporter was attacked by a man who also stole some of his work equipment during a demonstration in favor of the president Peter’s castle called “La Toma de Lima”, which moved around abankay avenue.

This is Diego Vertis, a PBO reporter who indicated that during the mobilization he stopped to send images he had taken when a man approached him and forced him to take his equipment: a cell phone and a monopod.

He also indicated that the other subject returned the mobile phone to him, but when he wanted to take the monopod, the subject who pushed him used the equipment to hit his arm and open the wound.

“I sent photos and videos and one of the protesters grabbed because I had a monopod in my hand and took it away from me. He falls with everything and a cell phone, another protester holds out a cell phone to me, but the leg takes the monopod, when I want to pick up the monopod, he uses this tool to open a wound on my arm,” he told RPP Noticias.

Attack on journalists

However, this was not the only attack on journalists, as two press groups were physically assaulted by some protesters in the morning.

One such incident took place in San Martin Plaza, where a Panamericana TV reporter was interviewing one of the protesters when a group suddenly appeared and attacked him and the cameraman. They also poured water on his cell, which had fallen into disrepair.

Meanwhile, another group of protesters poured hot emollient over the Latin American television journalist, although, fortunately, the journalist was not seriously burned.

Mobilization in support of the government Peter’s castle It began in the morning with various groups moving along Abankey Avenue with the intention of reaching the building of the Congress of the Republic, where they were repulsed by a detachment of policemen.

In the afternoon, the demonstrators again tried to break through to the parliament building, this time with direct attacks on the police cordon. Faced with this situation, the agents decided to use tear gas canisters, with which they were able to withdraw the demonstrators and vacate Abankay Avenue, where traffic had already resumed.
