The spirit is gone, My neighbor Totoro, The castle in the sky… These animated films from Studio Ghibli have been fueling the imaginations of young and old since the mid-1980s. Just like their heroes and creatures that are now ingrained in Japanese culture like Haku, San or Cat-Bus. Good news for fans of Hayao Miyazaki’s fantasy universe. The park dedicated to Studio Ghibli welcomes its first visitors this Tuesday, November 1, just weeks after Japan reopened its borders to tourists. It is located in the Aichi Memorial Park, about thirty kilometers from Nagoya, in an area of 7 hectares.
For now, as the park’s official website shows, there are three universes available: Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Dondoko Forest. Two other areas, Witch Valley and Mononoke Village, are slated to open in late 2023. If first-timers won their sesame by lottery, entry tickets are now on sale on this site (Japanese only) for the first time. – come, first serve. It will cost ¥2,000 (€15) for an adult, and ¥1,000 (€7.50) for a child. Very slightly higher price (€19 and €9) on weekends and holidays.
