Lawyer Jean Louis Pelletier died on Tuesday at the age of 86. A towering figure at the bar, he is known for having defended some of the biggest names in organized crime in the 1970s and 1980s, starting with Jacques Messinin.
We remember him for some of these clients who have remained in the annals of the courts: Marcel’s godfather Francis Vanverbergen, known as Francis “the Belgian”, Marcel Barbeau, nicknamed the “Oise Assassin”, serial killer Lionel Cardon, Valery. Subra (“the bait”), the bandit Redoin Faid… But he was of this race of criminals who, despite their notoriety, were capable of traveling hundreds of miles to try to save the day in miserable cases from strangers who paid them little or nothing.
