It was August 25, just like any other for the residents of this small one-way street in Anderlecht, a suburb of Brussels. But one addition intrigued them: radar. This was to implement the new 10km/h limit that came into force in February. The municipality justifies this speed with the deplorable condition of the road. Its members did not hesitate to mock the absurdity of the decision on social networks. “With the new program, I have to drive for 10 hours, my wife got a flash here (…) Do you think it’s normal to drive with a flash?– regrets one. For the other, the radar is used only “put money into the coffers of the community“.
Finally, on Thursday, September 1, the hated radar disappeared. However, the speed limit continues to remain under the vigilance of the policemen who installed the radar on the nearby street.
