A state of natural disaster has been declared in several Corsican municipalities following deadly storms on August 18, according to the official journal of Thursday, August 25. The Ministers of the Economy, the Interior and the delegate of the Minister responsible for Public Accounts have recognized the state of natural disaster in the municipalities of Cors-du-Sud and Upper Cors.
Corsica was hit by a deadly thunderstorm on Thursday, August 18, killing five people across the island. Among the municipalities recognized as a natural disaster is Calvi (Haute-Corse), where a 45-year-old man died and where several bungalows were crushed by huge uprooted pine trees.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin promised to recognize the state of natural disaster and confirm “one window” so that affected companies can “Get them covered fast”.
