LE FIGARO. – Is ordinary educational violence the delusion of those who destroy education, or does it actually exist?
Marie Chetrit. – Undeniably, they exist and are still prevalent in all walks of life. As teachers, carers, social workers or even members of the police know it well, what really happens in the privacy of families is not necessarily ideal. The whole debate is about what is called “VEO:“. Hurting, bullying, neglect, and sexual assault are abuse. Some parents exercise a harsh authority or show very little affection towards their children. Even if they think they are doing the right thing because it conforms to entrenched family or cultural patterns, they are practicing ordinary educational violence because they are depriving their child of the emotional nourishment they need to develop themselves.
