After World War II and the redistribution of cards in the wine industry, the Greek government advocated the industrialization of wine. The story of Dexamenes begins like this, with the construction of a factory and two tanks at the water’s edge. Intoxicating!
The transformation
Led by entrepreneur Nikos Karaflos and supported by the famous Greek architecture firm K-Studio (Kalesma, Branco, Navarino Bay, Casa Cook Chania hotels, etc.), Dexamenes Seaside Hotel opens just before the pandemic. A choice to make full use of technical prowess and industrial flair.
Beach
Located 7 km from the town of Amaliada, Kurouta Beach stretches towards the Ionian Sea. A dozen steps separate the hotel from a stretch of blonde sand lined with lounge chairs and natural fiber tropical umbrellas. Royal peace.
The rooms
Two options, beach villas or suites in vessels (34 units, 3 categories. Beach, yard and: Backyard WineTankSuites) Subtle aesthetics dressed in steel, glass, wood… for these houses on old reservoirs with sea, courtyard or garden views.
The bathroom
A textured glass wall allows daylight to flood in from the bedroom to the aft tub. The original concrete reveals the poetry of its patina polished by time. A (cold) shower of emotions!
Table
The motto of the house is Hippocrates “We are what we eat.” At Dexamenes we promote local, fresh and seasonal cuisine, served in the bar, Ex-Engine Room restaurant or on the seafront.
From €150 per night. Dexamenes.com.
